This was my second attempt to photograph this tree. Young, I suppose I imagined that it had always been there, and would always be there after I was gone. So at the time this was a tribute, and a celebration of the beauty of old age.

I have had wonderful cameras since the poor rotten thing with which I took this photograph. Whatever is in this picture was out there and I was simply responding to it.
